HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man who said he was speeding “because he wanted to feel the beat of the music” was clocked doing 101 mph on Interstate 24 by a Christian County Sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday.
While on patrol, Deputy Collings observed the vehicle speeding eastbound on I-24 and attempted a stop. The driver refused and got off at Exit 89, made a right on Pembroke Oak Grove, and then onto Walter Garret Lane. The vehicle finally pulled into a Shell Station and stopped, and as he did so he threw something out of the passenger window that shattered, the report said.
The driver said he had ingested methamphetamine prior to operating his vehicle. He also told officers he was only speeding because he wanted to feel the beat of the music as he was driving.
Marijuana and other items commonly used to ingest narcotics were found in the vehicle.
The driver was booked into the Christian County Jail on charges of speeding, reckless driving, improper use of the left lane, no operator’s license, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, and littering.
